Ford’s vehicle production has suffered more from the semiconductor chip shortage than any other North American automaker. As Ford waits for chips, the Blue Oval is forced to cut hundreds of thousands of units, temporarily close plants, and store countless cars on lots. Ford Authority reported in May that it doesn’t anticipate delivering any meaningful inventory to dealers before August. So perhaps it’s not surprising that Ford has announced more closures for July. According to Automotive News, Ford’s vehicle production will take another significant hit in July. The automaker plans to shut down a number of its plants over the next few weeks.
