Ford North America was forced to cut thousands of vehicles and idle almost all assembly plants due to the Global Semiconductor Chip Shortage. According to IHS Markit’s new data, the Ford medium-duty truck production hasn’t slowed down during the chip shortage.

All of the Ford F-450s, F-550s, F-600s, F-650s, and F-750 trucks have been in production at the Ford Kentucky Truck Plant. There were no significant disruptions to their production because they use fewer components in short supply. According to IHS data, the production of medium- and heavy-duty trucks is down only around 3% in the first half of 2021. However, sales are expected to rise by about 8% for the year regardless.
