The Biden administration created a federal task force to address the existing supply chain issues. Biden’s administration will continue to monitor short-term supply chain issues via a new data hub. This will allow them to identify disruptions, communicate with private companies, and build on Biden’s efforts to increase communication among chipmakers and automakers.

The President is trying to solve the chip shortage in the long term by committing $52 billion to build at least seven U.S. chip plants. However, some fear that the problem will continue for years making short-term solutions more urgent than ever. As Ford continues to be impacted by the global Chip Shortage, cutting more inventory than other automakers, short-term solutions are necessary to minimize Q2 loss.
